Supporting people with alcohol-related liver disease and alcohol-use disorder to find their healing and recovery pathway.
You Are Not Alone
In June 2024, Sober Livers launched as a groundbreaking organization for people with alcohol use disorder and alcohol-associated liver disease. Many seeking support from those who've walked a similar path discovered something powerful — they are not alone.
Sober Livers is now a program of the Fatty Liver Foundation, combining decades of patient advocacy experience with dedicated ALD and transplant support.

Our Mission
Sober Livers empowers individuals and care partners impacted by alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD), alcohol-related liver disease with metabolic dysfunction (MetALD), and those navigating life after liver transplant. We support each person in discovering and embracing a recovery journey that is personal, dignified, and sustainable. We fulfill this mission through nationwide peer support, mentorship, education, and accessible resources—all grounded in compassion. At the same time, we work to dismantle stigma through public awareness campaigns that elevate understanding, reduce shame, and center the lived experiences of those affected by these often-overlooked conditions.
Our Vision
To transform liver health by 2030 through tens of thousands of education and support connections, breaking the silence around alcohol- and MetALD-related liver disease, advancing early detection, and empowering healing through compassion, community, and credible information.
Our Purpose
No one diagnosed with liver disease—or recovering from a transplant due to alcohol use or alcohol-related liver disease with metabolic dysfunction—should have to face this journey alone. Sober Livers is committed to creating a compassionate, judgment-free environment where individuals and care partners are empowered to reclaim their agency, explore personalized alcohol recovery pathways, and navigate the complexities of liver disease with the support of peers, mentors, credible education, and access to essential resources.
